HVLED805TR Application Field and Working Principle

High Voltage LED Driver IC HVLED805TR is a three-state LED driver IC for automotive lighting applications. It is integrated with high voltage switch, charge pump, and protection circuitry. Working Principle

HVLED805TR is a buck-boost LED driver with a built-in power factor correction (PFC). It works by taking in a DC voltage ranging from 6 to 18V and regulating it to the required LED driver voltage. It consists of two voltage regulators, a high voltage switch and a charge pump. The two voltage regulators regulate the input voltage to generate a low voltage. The high voltage switch, also called the NFET, on the other hand, works as a controller of sensitivity to current, dynamic flow rate, and power dissipation of the switch. The charge pump is used to shift the output voltage either up or down.

The device uses a unique built-in power factor correction (PFC) scheme. The PFC scheme adjusts both the peak current and peak voltage, resulting in a power factor greater than 0.90. This helps to reduce power loss, eliminate input current harmonics, and provide peak power savings, thus ensuring the long-term operation of the system.

HVLED805TR offers high efficiency, low EMI and high current accuracy. It is capable of driving up to nine LEDs and provides flux-modulation protection and constant current protection. It offers accurate, repeatable and reliable control of the LED current, while the constant current output makes lighting effects very consistent and flicker-free across the entire system. The device also uses over-temperate protection and short-circuit protection to protect the connected LEDs and other devices.
