The ICL3224CA is an optimized low power current mode logic (LPCM) high-speed line receiver. It supports a data rate of up to 48 Mbps, using a +3V single supply operation. It has a wide input common-mode range that covers an extended ground range, allowing the parts to be used over long transmission lines at rates up to 48 Mbps.

ICL3224CA has many applications in the automotive, consumer, industrial or communications markets. It is used in CAN, CAN FD, UART, RS-232,RS-422 andLVDS. It has a low power dissipation and offers digital output to help reducing system component count. It can be used as a high speed differential line receiver or as a high performance, low costUARTline receiver, making it ideal for applications requiring low power, low cost, and low EMI Differential Input.

The ICL3224CA is offered in an industry-standard 16-pin, 4mm×4mm TSSOP thin-shrink small outline package for automotive, consumer, and industrial system designs.

The ICL3224CA is a Low Power Current Mode Logic (LPCM) High-Speed Line Receiver. It is capable of transmitting data rates up to 48 Mbps, using a +3V single supply operation. The device offers a wide common mode input voltage range that covers an extended ground range and allows the component to be used over shorter transmission lines.

The ICL3224CA supports among others logical 1/logical 0 digital output, and features rue-time adaptive algorithm for acceptability. The device uses an advanced current-mode logic (CML) architecture with a data rate of up to 48 Mbps. By using this architecture, the ICL3224CA reduces glitches and speed-up recovery time from edges. The ICL3224CA uses a single +3V supply that can be either a battery-based or a +3.3V system. The device has very low power consumption making it ideal for portable designs.

The data input is a positive true differential logic, which is represented as the logic table in figure 1. In order to encode the input data into the serial data stream, the ICL3224CA uses four stages of a serial data stream encoding. These encoding stages consist of programmable shift register, latches, combinational logic and some integral feedback loops. The programmable shift register is used to store and shift the data, while the latches are used to hold the data in memory. The combinational logic and integral feedback loops are used to combine the input data and send an output code representing the transmitted data.The output code is then further encoded with error correction and parity codes.

The ICL3224CA can be used as a line receiver in communication systems such as local area networks (LANs) and universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UARTs). It is also used as a high speed differential line receiver for low power, low cost, and low EMI Differential Input.
