The working principle employs constant current regulation, where the LED operates at the same current, regardless of different LED forward voltages. When the LED forward voltage exceeds the preset threshold, the voltage watch circuit sends a signal to the switching regulator. This results in reduced LED current, thus adjusting the current to maintain a steady state at the preset current output level. This process is repeated until the LED forward voltage is stabilized and the current flows through the LEDs remain at the desired level.

The operation of the device supports both forward voltage recovery timing (?Vrev) and forward current recovery timing (?crev). When the input voltage is reduced, ?Vrev will be selected during the voltage recovery timing. The ?crev timing will be adopted if the input voltage exceeds the preset voltage. This function prevents the over-current issue occurring during fully rated input voltage.

The ICLS6021JXKLA1 is available in a small package to minimize the PCB layout requirement. It also employs LED open-circuit diagnosis to cut out slew rate current when the LED is open circuit, and Smart Dimming (SD) to allow smooth dimming control using external resistance network. Additionally, the device offers options to set overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown protection, and short-circuit protection for maximum safety.
