The ICS87931BYILFT Clock Generator employs a PLL to synthesize, multiply and divide the frequency of a stable reference clock. This clock generator has an integrated Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) that supports an input reference clock ranging from 50Hz to 1250MHz. The VCO is activated by the output of a PLL loop filter, which helps to adjust the output clock frequency and phase as per the input reference.The PLL loop comprises two components, namely a phase detector and a loop filter. The phase detector (PD) constantly compares the phase of the incoming reference clock to the phase of the VCO’s output.
