ICS950405AFLFT - Application Specific Clock/TimingThe ICS950405AFLFT clock/timing device is an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) designed for applications where performance and consistency are critical. It provides continuous timing from millisecond to microsecond resolutions with a maximum error of only 4 nanoseconds (due to thermal gradients and other environmental influences). The device also provides a wide range of application specific functions, such as pulse accumulation, pulse blending, pulse width modulation (PWM) and duty cycle adjustment. It is well suited for use in a wide range of applications, including digital and analog control systems, timing systems, communication systems, embedded systems and automotive applications.Working PrincipleThe working principle of the ICS950405AFLFT is based on a non-volatile clock oscillator whose output is used to generate a reference signal. The clock oscillator is digitally programmable and can provide up to 32 frequency reference signals. As these reference signals are generated, they are put through various algorithms that are used to create a clock signal with the highest possible accuracy and stability.
