The ICZ0948S05 is a step-down DC-DC converter which offers an adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 24V and a maximum output current of 2A.The switching frequency of the ICZ0948S05 converter is adjustable from 100 kHz to 500 kHz and its operating temperature range is from -30℃ to 70℃. It features an internal synchronous rectifier, an internal soft start and current limit to offer low on-state output voltage. It also includes an adjustable line compensation for use in wide input voltage range applications. The ICZ0948S05 uses an internal PWM modulator to generate an output voltage. It has an error amplifier that controls the duty cycle of the internal high-side P-Channel and low-side N-Channel power switches. The error signal is generated by comparing a feedback voltage (VFB), a reference voltage (VREF) and the output voltage of the internal error amplifier (VEA).The ICZ0948S05 features a PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation) mode which provides lower noise, higher efficiency and fast transient response. In this mode, the output voltage is only switched while the current in the output inductor is below a certain threshold. When the peak current is reached, the PWM mode is disabled and the PFM mode is enabled. When the peak current is lower than the threshold, the PFM mode is disabled and the PWM mode is enabled.The step-down DC-DC converter also features a stand-by mode that reduces the power consumption of the converter. The stand-by mode is activated when the input voltage is lower than 1.6V. In this case, the converter switches off all internal switches except the switch connected to the impulse transformer. The ICZ0948S05 also features a remote sense function. This function reduces the effect of voltage drops as the output current moves away from the load. Without this feature, the voltage at the load can be lower than the actual output voltage as the output current increases.The ICZ0948S05 is a versatile and efficient step-down DC-DC converter.
