The device features a low power CMOS architecture and is designed to operate from a single 5V supply. The IDTDAC1205D650HW-C18’s output can be used to drive loads up to 120mA and its output signal ranges between 0V and 13.5V for 12-bit resolution and 0V and 13.4V for 16-bit resolution.
The working principle of the IDTDAC1205D650HW-C18 is based on the application of voltage to each of the 16 output bits. For example, at 12-bit resolution, the output voltage of the device is determined by multiplying the voltage at each bit (5V/212) by the binary number represented by the bits. This process is repeated to generate the desired output voltage. At 16-bit resolution, the procedure is slightly different as the voltage at each bit is only 4V/216.
