Working Principle

The second current path is designed to trip the breaker in the case of an instantaneous short circuit. When the primary current path detects a current that is beyond its operational threshold, the breaker will trip and open the circuit, preventing further damage to components and reducing the risk of an electrical fire. In the case of an instantaneous short circuit, the second current path will trip almost immediately, before the current has the chance to exceed the primary current path’s threshold.
