The working principle of a fixed inductor is similar to that of a transformer. When a current (I) flows through the inductor coil, an opposing inductive field (F) is created in the core and an electromotive force (E) is induced in the opposite direction. As the coil current is reduced, the EMF in the coil decreases and the current increases again until a balance is reached. This cycle is repeated and is called an induced EMF cycle.
