Optoisolators - Transistor, Photovoltaic Output - IL300-DEFG-X007 Application Field and Working PrincipleOptoisolators were first developed to provide isolation between two electrical circuits without using direct connection. It allows signals, electrical power and data to be transferred between two circuits in a safe manner. The Optoisolator’s design provides a physical barrier that protects sensitive circuitry from dangerous conditions such as electrical overvoltage or electrical static discharge. As such, Optoisolators play an important role in practically every system involving power electronics or communication. The IL300-DEFG-X007 series of Optoisolators are transistor, photovoltaic output devices. This type of output is more commonly seen in applications requiring fast switching speed and high voltage control. They are used to switch high-current and voltage electrical circuits and are a reliable and cost-effective solution for many industrial applications. The IL300-DEFG-X007 Optoisolators have an optically isolated input and voltage control output terminals. When light is received by the optically isolated input, it is converted into an electrical signal. This is then sent to the output stage which serves as a voltage control element, allowing transistor switching. The DC supply voltage to the output stage can be within a range of 12V-200V. The main application of the IL300-DEFG-X007 series Optoisolator is for switching motors, pumps and other electrical components used in industrial machinery. The optical isolation reduces the risk of electric shock and short circuits, while the fast switching speed and wide range of supply voltage gives the user flexibility and ease of operation. The working principle of the IL300-DEFG-X007 Optoisolator is based on the opto-electronic effect. A light sensitive semiconductor device, such as a photodiode or phototransistor, is placed in the optically isolated input. When light is incident upon it, electrons are released, causing a change in the electrical characteristics of the device, producing an output current or voltage.The output stage of the Optoisolator consists of a power transistor that is connected externally to the DC supply. The output voltage of the Optoisolator is determined by the voltage of the DC supply and the gain of the transistor. When a voltage is applied to the transistor, it will switch on or off accordingly, controlling the connected electrical component. The IL300-DEFG-X007 Optoisolators have a wide range of operating temperatures, from -55°C to + 150°C. They are also resistant to high voltage stress, ensuring that they are well suited for a range of usage scenarios.
