ILS23000 Application Field and Working Principle

TVS - Varistors, MOVs are advanced devices primarily used to protect circuits, components, and systems from the damaging effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical transients (lightning, surges, and spikes), and other high voltage events. The most common of these devices, the ILS23000, is a Compact Ultra-Low Capacitance ESD & Lightning Protection Device.This versatile device can be used in a variety of ways, including as an ESD protection for data, telecom, and industrial equipment; as a surge protector; and as a lightning protection device. Its compact size and low capacitance make it ideal for protecting applications such as USB, HDMI, high speed data transfer, and other small-scale circuits. The ILS23000 is designed to provide superior ESD protection against high energy discharges up to 30 kV (IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4). It also provides superior EMI/RFI protection at the RF level, and offers robust surge protection up to 25A.The ILS23000 is composed of two parts: an ESD protection element and a surge protection element. The ESD protection element is a low capacitance, low voltage varistor that is designed to react quickly and safely in the event of an ESD discharge. The surge protection element is a metal-oxide varistor (MOV) with internal protection circuitry that reduces any residual voltage. The device features an operating temperature range of -55°C to +150°C, making it suitable for a variety of applications, as well as a storage temperature range from -55°C to +150°C. It also features an RoHS-compliant package size of 7.5 x 5.7 x 0.8 mm.To ensure maximum protection, the ILS23000 should be installed between a sensitive circuit and a ground point in the system. This will ensure that any ESD or transient voltage events that occur on the grid, line, or other upstream devices are absorbed by the device. The device will then dissipate the energy within a safe operating temperature range via a combination of high rate and low wattage mechanisms.In summary, the ILS23000 offers superior ESD, EMI/RFI, and surge protection in a compact package.
