IR38165MTRPBFAUMA1 is a high efficiency DC to DC Switching Regulators. It is a Step-Down Switching Regulator which allows a voltage to be stepped down from a higher voltage to a lower one while maintaining high efficiency. This device is a monolithic integrated circuit which includes an internal power MOSFET switch and can be operated up to 8.5V input voltage and has a 2.5amps maximum peak current capacity.

Working Principle

The IR38165MTRPBFAUMA1 DC to DC switching regulator uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control the voltage output. This is achieved by varying the width of a rectangular switching pulse as well as its frequency. A feedback loop is used to maintain a constant output voltage by adjusting the pulse width of the switching pulses. When the output voltage rises above the reference voltage, the pulse width is decreased; when the output voltage falls below the reference voltage, the pulse width is increased.

When the input voltage exceeds the upper threshold, the device will be disabled and latch off until the voltage falls back below the threshold.
