Integrated System Semiconductor (ISS) IRU1261CT is a triple-output Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) class switching regulator controller specifically designed for use in processor core-supplying applications. It is a component of the ISS Power+ family. The IRU1261CT occupies the special purpose category of PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits) voltage regulators.

The IRU1261CT VRMs are intended for applications that require the regulation of multiple, independent channels to supply processor core and related systems. These devices feature a DC/DC synchronous (buck) converter topology, with two independent and isolated outputs and a third controller output, dedicated to enabling the first two outputs. IRU1261CT VRMs are configured with input voltages in the range of 5 V to 39 V and feature a single programmable output voltage per channel in the range of 0.7 V to 4 V. Output voltages can be programmed using the serial or parallel register interface, the latter being programmable using the serial interface.

IRU1261CT VRMs feature advanced power management capabilities, such as over-voltage protection, current sharing, and voltage monitoring. In addition, these devices feature a temperature measurement system, which allows for the adjustment of the output voltage setting to ensure efficient thermal management of the system. All these features, combined with an integrated power management system, enable the implementation of cost-effective, high input voltage, high output current Step Down converters.

The IRU1261CT devices have a minimum output voltage that is adjustable from 0.7 V to 4 V. They also feature an internal compensation circuit and digital Soft-start for each output voltage. This ensures optimal efficiency over the widest range of input and output voltages, including transient conditions. They also feature a variety of fault protection features and comprehensive monitoring capabilities.

At the heart of the IRU1261CT is an optimized power conversion architecture, which delivers high levels of efficiency over the entire input voltage range, while providing optimal power dissipation levels. This architecture features a synchronous buck converter topology, with two independent and isolated outputs and a third controller output, dedicated to enabling the first two outputs. The use of advanced switching techniques, such as pulse-width modulation (PWM) and pulse-frequency modulation (PFM), ensures high efficiency across a wide range of inputs and loads. Additionally, the IRU1261CT provides power conversion circuitry that assures a robust, vibration- and shock-proof design even in the harshest of environments.

The combination of power efficiency, programmable outputs, and advanced protection and monitoring features makes the IRU1261CT ideally suited for applications in demanding, high-current environments such as server, networking and communications modules, processors and memory systems.
