The ISL62386HRTZ is a low side MOSFET driver and gate driver IC specifically designed for driving N-channel MOSFETs in a wide variety of applications requiring high speed gate driving. It is suitable for use in systems with voltages up to 600V and currents up to 6A.

Application Field

The ISL62386HRTZ is well suited for applications such as Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPSs) and Ac-DC or DC-DC converters when used in conjunction with an external FET for power conversion. It has on-board UVLO and overtemperature protection. The device is available in an 8-pin SOIC package and offers a built in Gate turn-On delay.

Working Principle

The ISL62386HRTZ is an integrated circuit that combines a low side gate driver and a Power MOSFET driver. Both of these devices are operated by supplying a low-level, high-voltage gate signal to the gate driver which then converts the signal to a high-current, low-voltage signal suitable for driving N-channel Power MOSFETs. Both the Gate Driver and the MOSFET driver have built-in protection features to ensure that the gate voltage and MOSFET current are not exceeded.

The gate driver is supplied with a low-level gate signal from an external control circuit and it converts this signal to a high-current, low-voltage drive signal suitable for driving the Power MOSFET. The gate driver includes built-in protection features such as over-voltage, under-voltage, overtemperature and over-current protection. The MOSFET driver is supplied with a logic level gate signal from the gate driver and it converts this signal to a high-current drive signal suitable for driving the MOSFET. The MOSFET driver also includes over-voltage, over-current protection.
