The ISL6440EVAL1Z evaluation board is an off-line switching mode power supply (SMPS) designed to evaluate the various features of the ISL6440, a high performance PWN controller with integrated 700 V MOSFET that offers high efficiency solutions for advanced ac/dc or dc/dc power applications. With its comprehensive development environment, the ISL6440EVAL1Z simplifies and accelerates the design process and allows the user to quickly and easily design, implement, and test their application.

The ISL6440EVAL1Z is a low cost evaluation board for the ISL6440 featuring a comprehensive setup, enabling users to quickly evaluate the wide frequency range and high frequency operation capability of the controller. The board\'s design includes a Power Factor Correction (PFC) stage to provide accurate power factor control for off-line power supplies. The PFC stage features an ISL6532 high performance SMPS PWM controller for motor control and intelligent discretes for digital control, allowing tight output voltage regulation and high efficiency.

The ISL6440EVAL1Z\'s power section consists of a full-wave single-ended forward converter with active clamp reset. The primary side of the converter is driven by the ISL6440 and utilizes an integrated 700 V J-FET MOSFET for increased efficiency. The ISL6440 also provides the necessary gate driver signals and cycle-by-cycle current limit protection for each switch (including the integrated 700V MOSFET).

For the secondary side of the converter, the board features an auxiliary winding for controlling the output voltages using the ISL6407E synchronous rectifier controller. The ISL6407E also provides additional protection functions such as overvoltage and overtemperature protection.

The board also includes a wide input voltage range (90VAC-264VAC), a wide frequency range (45kHz-100kHz) and many other features. All these features can easily be modified using the on-board jumpers. A rich set of development tools such as oscilloscopes, soldering irons, reflow ovens etc. are also included with the board.
