The ISL6440IA is a configurable, high frequency, non-isolated synchronous buck controller with integrated MOSFET drivers, an integrated high frequency oscillator and a programmable current limit. This IC is well suited for a wide variety of applications ranging from point-of-load (POL) to industrial and telecommunication applications.The ISL6440IA synchronous buck controller is used to deliver power from the system’s power rail to the load. It offers high efficiency, wide range of output voltage programming, and high precision regulation down to 0.5%.When it comes to working principle, the ISL6440IA synchronous buck controller reduces the input voltage to the output voltage that is required for each application. It is done by using Pulse Width Modulation ( PWM) technique.The PWM technique is based on the principle of switching a transistor ON and OFF at a high frequency depending on the required output voltage of the device. As the transistor is ON, current flows through the transistor, which reduces the voltage of the supply. As the transistor is OFF, no current flows and the voltage of the supply is restored.
