The ISL6506CB-T is a monolithic power integrated circuit (IC) from the Renesas family of PMICs specifically designed for high current systems. The device is used for synchronous step-down DC/DC conversion of input voltage ranging from 4.5V to 13.2V. It provides a high efficiency and low noise solution with a small footprint.

The IC integrates an internal controller and a high-side and a low-side MOSFET. Additionally, it features an integrated operating point trim circuit, a soft start circuit, an over temperature protection circuit, an over current protection circuit and a current limiter control circuit. It is designed to deliver well regulated output under dynamic load conditions and after an input voltage transients. The chip is a high-speed operation device that can run up to 4MHz.

ISL6506CB-T provides a dynamic output voltage for 3.3V to 5V output voltage applications. It supports pulse-by-pulse current limiting, hiccup protection and available in 2V, 4.5V and 6V startup threshold options. In addition, to facilitate the usage in portable applications, it supports very low quiescent current for light-load operation, providing an easy-to-use solution for superior light-load efficiency. The IC is available in a RoHS-compliant, low profile VQFN-34 package.
