ISL6540ACRZ is a DC/DC switching controller IC from Intersil. It operates from 5V to 80V Input and provides maximum of 17V to 20V output voltage to the printer boards, displays and I/O boards in the PC applications. This high efficiency controller is capable of delivering up to 10A of load output current with a minimal number of components. Working Principle

ISL6540ACRZ is a synchronous buck-mode switching controller, which uses the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique to regulate an output voltage from an input voltage. Two power MOSFET integrated switches, a oneshot driver and an onboard error amplifier makes up the circuit, reducing the bill of material. The power switches are responsive to the PWM pulses and produces the required output voltage.

The First pulse width modulated signal is generated by the error amplifier, which compares the actual output voltage to a reference voltage. The error amplifier output is then amplified by the voltage amplifier.
