The ISL6740IVZ is a dual-channel bias sequencer and switching controller for high efficiency and high frequency DC/DC power converters. It provides a sequential control interface that controls the bias voltages of multiple power supplies and the load switch sequencing of an auxiliary voltage regulator. It also reduces stress on the system by preventing the simultaneous enabled of multiple output power switch controllers.

The ISL6740IVZ is designed to reduce the complexity and cost of power management design by providing a single controller to interface with multiple power supplies. It eliminates the need for complex voltage-scaling operations requiring multiple power supplies and reduces the number of external components required by replacing manual sequencing operations. The ISL6740IVZ requires a single external resistor and capacitor to enable sequential on/off switching for two channels.

The ISL6740IVZ features a full-featured bias sequencer and switching controller. It provides two channels of low-voltage, low-current drive to up to four output voltage levels. To reduce system power dissipation, the ISL6740IVZ incorporates a low-power active controller (LPA) to enable a hardware shutdown mode at the end of each on/off cycle. The controller also provides precision power sequencing and individual power supply enable control.

The ISL6740IVZ works on a fixed frequency, selectable from 33kHz to 1MHz. It is also equipped with an internal oscillator that can be optimized for best noise performance. Other features include overcurrent protection, EMI/EMC filtering, and built-in power sequencing options. The controller is protected by a two-stage crowbar for overvoltage protection.
