The ISL80020ADEMO1Z evaluation board is a type of DC/DC or AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. It is an ideal tool for evaluating the performance of the ISL80020A monolithic product, a tiny start-up controller IC for switch-mode power supplies. The evaluation board is designed to generate a regulated output voltage from either a wide input voltage range of 4.5V–90V using a buck or flyback topology or from 85V–265V using a forward topology. The board can also be used to evaluate the ISL80019ACFB low start-up current flyback controller.

In order to generate the desired output voltage and current, the ISL80020ADEMO1Z evaluation board uses a control system consisting of the ISL80020A, power MOSFET, inductors, capacitors, and other components. It consists of an internal regulator and logic block that enables the turn-on and turn-off of the MOSFET gates.
