ISL8272MEVAL1Z is an evaluation board designed for DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) switching mode power supplies (SMPS). It is specially designed to evaluate the performance of Intersil’s ISL8272MEG PWM controller IC. The evaluation board comes with some features and requirements for the user. This evaluation board is ideal for testing and evaluation of Intersil’s ISL8272ME PWM controller IC.The ISL8272MEVAL1Z evaluation board is a single-ended primary switch mode power supply (SMPS). This board has two modes of operation. These are open loop and closed loop modes. In open loop mode, the output voltage is directly controlled via a pot. In closed loop, the feedback voltage is compared with a reference voltage to generate a proportional signal that sets the output voltage.The ISL8272ME evaluation board also includes an onboard power supply and monitoring circuit. This circuit monitors the input voltage and provides soft start and soft shutdown capability. The onboard low-dropout (LDO) regulator can be programmed to adjust the voltage level for usage in low-power applications or to adjust the gate drive for higher-power applications.The ISL8272ME evaluation board comes with various I/O options such as SPI, I2C, CAN, and RS232.
