ISL8488IB

ISL8488IB is a high performance monolithic quad/dual isolated gate driver with integrated DC-DC converter blocks. ISL8488IB delivers exceptional performance and reliability by operating off the internal isolated power rail generated by the integrated DC-DC converter. It is designed to meet the stringent requirements of high power industrial isolated gate drive applications. ISL8488IB features advanced isolation technology to provide isolation capability up to 2.5kVac and protect sensitive devices from high voltage transients.

ISL8488IB automatically senses the input logic levels (3.3V/5V/12V/24V) and provides the appropriate output voltage range. ISL8488IB offers a very low propagation delay of 0.9ns and low delay matching better than 0.1V. The device is designed with integrated level shifting and clamping so that it can drive multiple voltage levels with no additional external components. The maximum output current of the ISL8488IB is 1.2A which enables it to drive up to 16A of gate charge.

ISL8488IB is designed to quickly switch the gate voltage of an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), field effect transistor (FET) and insulated gate thyristor (IGCT). It can be used to drive devices up to 1.5kV VCE. ISL8488IB offers very low propagation delay, matching better than 0.1V, and high speed over-voltage protection to ensure a safe and reliable switching. The device also includes a high speed I2C interface for communication and control and the integrated DC-DC converter provides up to 5A of power for external circuits.

The working principle of the ISL8488IB is based on an isolated DC-DC converter and an integrated level shifter.
