The output of the error-amplifier is also connected to the current limit comparator. This comparator monitors the current draw from the output and will shut down the pass FET if the current exceeds the programmed current limit threshold. This feature provides protection for the IC and the load, in case of over-current conditions.

The device has a thermal shutdown logic block which monitors the die temperature. In case of abnormally high temperatures, the pass FET will be shut down to prevent damage to the IC. The device can also be configured with EN pin, which allows the device to be disabled and enabled. Finally, the device has an adjustable current limit feature, which allows the user to select a range of current from 0.1 A to 2 A to be used for the output.
