The ISL9000KFEV2 is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the characteristics of linear voltage regulators and to provide reference design guidance for implementation of linear voltage regulator products.

The ISL9000KFEV2 evaluation board was designed with both single and dual output regulators. Dual output regulators consist of one output (V1) fixed at 5V, and the other output (V2) which is adjustable. The adjustable V2 output can be adjusted to the following outputs: 3.3V, 5V, 12V and up to 24V.

In addition to the dual-output feature, the unit also includes features such as over/under voltage protection, thermal shutdown protection, short circuit protection, dynamic voltage scaling (DVS), and soft start characteristics. These features make the ISL9000KFEV2 ideal for use in situations where tight output voltage regulation and protection from power transients are required. The board also has selectable power on/off control via a jumper and a 4-pin header for easy connection to a PC or other test equipment.

The working principle of the ISL9000KFEV2 is as follows: an input voltage (within the limits of the unit\'s input operating range) is applied to the board and fed through a P-Channel FET. A feedback network, comprised of a voltage divider and a sense amplifier, is used to monitor the V2 voltage output. When the output voltage is higher than the expected value, the sense amplifier turns on the pass transistor and diverts current away from the output. This effect reduces the output voltage. When the output voltage is lower than the expected value, the sense amplifier turns off the pass transistor and allows current to flow to the output.

The ISL9000KFEV2 evaluation board is well-suited for testing linear voltage regulators in a variety of applications, such as medical diagnostics, automotive, industrial controls, and military/aerospace. The board is very easy to use and provides reference design guidance for implementing linear regulator solutions.
