The device has various protection features including load transient control, over-temperature shutdown, under-current protection and thermal shutdown.The ISL9003IEMZ-T device includes external gate drivers to eliminate thermal stress on the die and to allow fast switching of the FET. It also includes a 4ms soft-start time, which allows gentle "ramp-up" of output voltage to reduce system power-on reset (POR) glitches.The ISL9003IEMZ-T regulates voltage output over the full operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. In addition, it supports 3-wire serial control, including I2C, SMBus, Two-Wire Serial Interface and Support for Single-Bit Interface modes. The device also features an enable function and a soft start pin for fast POR (inrush current) protection.The majority of the ISL9003IEMZ-T functionality is based on an open loop architecture, while a feedback loop is used for loop compensation. The voltage regulation is achieved using a P channel power MOSFET, with an external N-channel MOSFET used for load switching; the latter is turned on and off using the integrated 2A switch.The open loop architecture used by the ISL9003IEMZ-T ensures a high level of reliability and no external components are required.
