The ISL91107IRA-EVZ is a high-performance digital PWM Current Mode Controller designed for off-line AC/DC and isolated DC/DC applications such as TV, monitor, communications, lighting, computing and industrial control products. This high performance Current Mode Controller provides industry-leading features such as Up Mode Control to support Zero Voltage Transition (ZVT) and no added external external components are required.

The ISL91107IRA-EVZ is ideal for off-line universal input applications (90Vac to 264Vac) suitable for multiple global AC line voltages. Its current mode control architecture provides superior performance in all operating modes such as line over voltage, line under voltage, soft start, over current and short circuits. Additionally, the ISL91107IRA-EVZ supports a wide array of voltage regulators that include standard, two-bit, three-bit, and standby mode operation.

Application Field

The ISL91107IRA-EVZ is designed to support off-line, non-isolated DC/DC and AC/DC applications. The device features an integrated emulated high-side driver in addition to a zero voltage transition (ZVT) up mode controller. It is ideal for high-line applications such as power supplies for Enterprise and Data Communications, Graphics/Imaging Equipment, as well as Automotive applications.

Working Principle

The ISL91107IRA-EVZ features a unique current-mode control architecture that enables fast line transient response with virtually no external components required. The device is capable of driving a variety of voltage regulators including those with two-bit, three-bit, and standby mode operation. The internal current-mode control loop provides superior performance in the presence of both input line and output load transients.

The internal emulated driver technology enables synchronous rectification and reduces the power losses associated with the rectifying elements. The device is capable of operating at up to 600kHz switching frequency to minimize power losses under light 1 load conditions or minimize external component size for space sensitive applications. The high-performance architecture also supports an adjustable soft-start to minimize inrush current and capacitor stress.

The ISL91107IRA-EVZ also features internal safety protection for input overvoltage, output overcurrent and short-circuit protection, as well as externally programmable current limit threshold for both the continuous and transient overload conditions. All these features optimize system safety as well as reduce system cost.

The ISL91107IRA-EVZ combines an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) for configuration and an Evaluation Board complete with mechanical samples to quickly prototype a design.
