The ISL9444EVAL1Z Evaluation Board is a complete solution for DC/DC, AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS design. As a full power supply reference design, this Evaluation Board presents an effective solution for system power supply solutions from the standpoint of reliability, efficiency, space constraints, and cost.

The ISL9444EVAL1Z features a primary-side PFC-PWM controller that can operate in Critical Conduction Mode (CCM) and Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM). It also has a secondary-side synchronous rectifier controller and gate driver IC. Therefore, it offers a complete, highly efficient solution for offline DC/DC and AC/DC switching power supplies.

The ISL9444EVAL1Z Evaluation Board consists of two boards, separated by a slot in the middle. The boards are connected via pins in this slot, which carry the voltages from the SMPS’ input to the PFC and the secondary sides of the design. In addition, two flexible connectors are used to connect the boards, which provide additional capability, such as adjustable output power and current level.

The primary components of the ISL9444EVAL1Z Evaluation Board include a PFC-PWM controller, a Synchronous Rectified Controller and (SRC) Gate Driver, input filter/ EMI components, a PFC output filter, and an offline CC/CV transition controller. The PFC-PWM Controller can operate in CCM and DCM with good line CV regulation and behaves as a voltage-mode current controller, providing excellent current mode CV regulation. The synchronous rectified controller and gate driver IC provides improved efficiency and reduces standby power consumption.

The ISL9444EVAL1Z Evaluation Board comes with an Intuitive GUI, which enables easy evaluation of different power supply parameters. It supports a wide range of input voltages of up to 300V AC, and has a high tolerance to AC line transient, over voltage, and short circuits. The GUI contains intuitive user-interface controls for load settings, voltage/current monitoring, and programming of operational parameters.
