The ISL9444IRZ-T is a high-efficiency, single-gate, buck, boost or dual-gate buck-boost controller designed for low-voltage, low-power applications.

The integrated powerstage is optimized for use as an offline switch-mode power converter controlled using pulse-width modulation (PWM).Its on-board standing-wave repartition (SWR) controller makes it well-suited for working in wide range of applications such as mobile devices, tablets, digital TV, battery operated applications, data storage and point-of-load (PoL) converters.

Working Principle

The ISL9444IRZ-T uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to modulate the power output.PWM is a process used to control the amount of power delivered to the output.The power is controlled by varying the width, or ‘on’ time of the output pulses. By increasing this on time the output voltage increases, and by decreasing it the output voltage decreases.

The pulse-width modulation is performed by comparing the voltage at the output with a reference voltage through a comparator circuit.This process also takes into account switching on losses, switching off losses, and the load.The output can be set either to a fixed range, or to a range determined by the voltage at the output.
