The ISL95210EVAL1Z Evaluation Board is designed to evaluate the operation of Intersil’s ISL95210 offline, quad-rail, point-of-load isolated DC/DC & AC/DC converter with integrated active OR gate. This evaluation board provides a system-ready platform for customers to streamline integration of Intersil’s ISL95210 converter into their products.
The ISL95210EVAL1Z Evaluation Board consists of a 5-phase AC/DC input with active OR-ing, an adjustable 3.3V output and an adjustable 5V output. The active OR circuit enables the system to run from both AC-DC rails or two separate DC inputs. Theevaluation board also provides an terminals and connector to evaluate the system with either an input voltage of 5V or 12V.The overall performance of the board is accomplished via a combination of efficient active Element Control (AEC) and a wide range of operating gate controls. The board\'s five-phase AEC regulates the current flow within the magnetics, resulting in improved efficiency, reduced output ripple and improved power delivery to the load. Additionally, the wide range of operating gate controls allows for the precise control of the power requirements and switches the quiescent current drawn from the power supply.The operation of the ISL95210EVAL1Z Evaluation Board is based around a single-chip DC/DC converter, the ISL95210. The ISL95210 is a 4-phase, single output, 3A converter. It features a high switching frequency of 1MHz, high conversion efficiency, adjustable output control and high-speed gate switching enabling improved transient response.The ISL95210EVAL1Z Evaluation Board provides 3V/5V output voltage adjustability via a jumper configuration. The jumper selection allows for the output voltage to be increased or decreased in 10mV increments. Furthermore, the evaluation board incorporates protection features such as thermal, short circuit and over voltage protection to safeguard the system from fault conditions.In addition to the flexible design, the ISL95210EVAL1Z Evaluation Board also offers on-board calibration to achieve accurate desired output voltage. The board provides a mute time and gain control switches to fine tune the system. The mute time control adjusts the delay after initial power up and before the output voltage stabilizes. The board also provides an adjustment for the current sense resistor which is coupled to the gate timing network and enables control of the power stage switching.In summary, the ISL95210EVAL1Z Evaluation Board is a flexible, highly efficient platform designed to evaluate the operation of Intersil’s ISL95210 offline, quad-rail, isolated DC/DC & AC/DC converter with integrated active OR gate.
