The PWM block switches the MOSFET based on feedback from the secondary side of the converter. A synchronization block controls the switching frequency and prevents it from going beyond the operating range.

The output voltage is regulated on the secondary side of the converter. The secondary side includes a high frequency transformer with an open primary winding and a secondary winding. The transformer primary winding is coupled to the MOSFET, and the energy stored in the transformer couples to the secondary winding during the on time of the MOSFET. The current sensed on the secondary winding is managed by a feedback circuit which is connected to the PWM block. The current is then rectified by a diode bridge and filtered for a smooth DC output voltage.

In addition to its high efficiency, the IZ0512S offers temperature protection and over-current protection. The device is also capable of handling power losses of up to 20W, making it suitable for applications that demand frequent power cycles.
