Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC)

An Electric Double Layer Capacitor, commonly referred to as EDLC, is a type of electrical storage device. Unlike other capacitors, EDLCs do not contain electrolytic liquid. Instead they use two separate electrodes, separated by a material known as a dielectric, which acts as an insulator and inhibitor of electrical flow. The electrodes are then separated by a thin, porous micro-film. EDLCs store their charge within the electric double layer of the electrodes.EDLCs have a wide range of applications in many different industries. They have a wide range of capacity compared to other capacitors, up to 10,000 Farads per cell.
