An Electric Double Layer Capacitor, commonly referred to as EDLC, is a type of electrical storage device. Unlike other capacitors, EDLCs do not contain electrolytic liquid. Instead they use two separate electrodes, separated by a material known as a dielectric, which acts as an insulator and inhibitor of electrical flow. The electrodes are then separated by a thin, porous micro-film.
