Film Capacitors

The JS181206-AA is a type of polypropylene film capacitor, which is suitable for applications including: dc and low-frequency ac circuits, general purpose filtering, line by-pass, regualtor bypass, stability, resonances, and other similar applications. Generally capacitors of this type are used where a large capacitance value is needed with low dissipation, and low inductance. The JS181206-AA provides a very low ESR (about 0.001ohms) and low inductance (about 1nH).

Working Principle

The working principle of the JS181206-AA is based on the theory of electrostatics. It works on the principle of electric field between two plates separated by an insulating (dielectric) material. The dielectric material is always chosen depending upon various factors, which includes its dielectric breakdown strength, dielectric constant, the temperature coefficient of capacitance, etc. In the case of the JS181206-AA, the dielectric material used is polypropylene.

When an electric field is established between the two plates of the capacitor, the electric charges get distributed on each surface of the dielectric material. This electric charge is known as the charge density. The increase in charge density will cause an increase in the capacitance of the capacitor. Thus, by changing the charge density of the capacitor, one can vary the capacitance of the capacitor. The capacitance of the JS181206-AA ranges between 10 to 200 pF, depending on the amount of charge stored at a particular voltage.

Application Field

The JS181206-AA is applicable in a wide range of dc and low-frequency ac circuits. It is suitable for many different general-purpose filtering applications such as line-bypass, resonance maintainance, and for current-to-voltage signal conversion. As it can pass ac and dc current while providing superior isolation properties, it is a suitable choice for a variety of noise filtering and voltage stabilization applications. It is also an important component in resonant circuits, such as the oscillator circuit, where its high frequency response and low shift in capacitance helps in maintaining a stable frequency.

The JS181206-AA is also used for the manufacturing of voltage-controlled oscillators, where its low ESR and excellent frequency response makes it ideal. In addition, it can provide excellent noise isolation and improved signal-to-noise ratio when employed in a power supply circuit. Furthermore, it finds application in amplifiers, audio signal processing, and various other industrial control applications.
