Working Principle

The JSE0812S12 utilizes an architecture to provide an isolated DC/DC main regulation and light load regulation. The primary side circuit employs an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) as a main switch and an SR as a damping device. It can also adjust the output voltage or current. The output current is sensed by an RCD clamp circuit.

On the secondary side, an SR is used as the main damping device. A flyback topology is used to provide an isolated regulation while driving the output stage. The SR controls the voltage across the capacitor. This ensures the capacitor voltage is always lower than the output voltage, ensuring the voltage on the secondary side isolation is lower than the input side.

The IGBT is driven by a gate driver which controls the main switch. The gate driver can operate in either PWM or Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) modes. By adjusting the time of the rising edge of the PWM pulse according to the voltage feedback, the output voltage of the converter is kept within an accuracy range. A high-frequency current sense FET is also employed for load current measurement, allowing the current-limit protections to be accurate.

The converter also features OTP/OTP/UVP/OVP protections, ensuring the converter can work stably within its designed parameters. The JSE0812S12 can operate in PWM/PFM modes making it highly efficient and suitable for applications with wide range of load variations.
