Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC) and Supercapacitors are both energy storage devices, but there are subtle differences that set them apart. EDLCs, also known as supercapacitors, offer higher power-to-weight ratios than regular capacitors, and can store much more energy than regular capacitors over short periods of time. Supercapacitors, on the other hand, offer very high energy-to-weight ratios and have the ability to discharge much faster than EDLCs, allowing for very rapid bursts of energy. The JUWT1685MHD is a supercapacitor marketed as an EDLC.
