DC DC Converters

DC DC converters are devices that convert DC voltages of one value to another. A well-known example is the DC/DC converter used in some laptops to convert large-voltage AC power to manageable 12 volts for charging the battery. In this application field, the JW100A works as an ideal step down DC voltage converter. Working Principle

The input stage and the output stage of JW100A DC DC converter is as shown in the figure below.

The basic working principle of this DC/DC converter can be described as follows: when the input voltage applied to the input terminals, it passes to the electricity-isolation transformer, which step-down the input voltage and turn it into AC voltage. Then the AC voltage will be transformed to DC voltage by the rectifier bridge. Then the voltage will be filtered and smoothed by capacitor C1. The voltage from the filter stage will be input to the control stage which consists of integrated circuit IC, and micro-processor. The control chip deliver the control signals to the transistor, which the transistor act as a closed loop and control the switch of the circuit. Finally the adjusteable output voltage will be provided by the voltage regulator circuit. Therefore, the JW100A is able to convert and regulate the input voltage to adjustable DC output voltage with high accuracy and high efficiency.

Output Characteristics

The maximum output power of JW100A is 100W, and the ripple is less the 30mV. It is a high efficient DC/DC converter with efficiency up to 92%. The output voltage range is adjustable from 8V to 24V, with accuracy of 0.5%. The output voltage is remain constant even if the load current changes. The JW100A also features a smart load detecting system, so it could detect any overload, short-circuit, or higher temperature situation and protect itself and the load from the danger.

Due to its features and characteristics, the JW100A is a popular DC/DC converter among the industrial and commercial applications. It is often used in telecommunication, automotive, medical industries.
