Reed relays
Reed relays are electromechanical switches based on a wire wound coil wrapped around a hermetically sealed reed. The magnetic field when the coil is energized causes the two ferromagnetic contact pieces to close, creating an electrical connection. When the coil is de-energized the magnetic field dissipates and the reed contact pieces move apart re-opening the circuit. Reed relays have some advantages over solid state relays due to the quick switch off times and low power consumption, as well as longevity and enhanced reliability.
JWD-171-12 application field and working principle
The JWD-171-12 reed relay is a single coil latching type relay. This type of relay is connected to a single constant input voltage and has the capability to select between two different outputs. This type of relay is ideal for controlling high-current circuits in the automotive and industrial sectors. The JWD-171-12 reed relay contains two coils, one for positive and one for negative polarity. The switching action of the circuit is driven by the armature of the relay. When the armature is in the central position, the armature will be in contact with both coils and will cause the relay to switch to the next output voltage.
The JWD-171-12 reed relay uses the principle of magnetic flux to provide a connection between two isolated points. When the coil is energized, an electric current is sent through the coil and creates a magnetic field. This magnetic field attracts the armature and causes it to move towards the energized side of the coil. This creates a continuous connection between the two isolated points and ensures that the circuit is switched on.
The JWD-171-12 reed relay has a selectable range of voltages, and a variety of contacts. It is rated up to 15 amps AC or DC. It is designed for use in a wide range of applications, including HVAC, automotive, data processing, and industrial control. The JWD-171-12 reed relay is UL and CSA approved for use in commercial and industrial applications.
The JWD-171-12 reed relay is an ideal choice for applications that require a reliable, low-cost, and fast-switching circuit. The high voltage and current ratings of the relay make it an ideal choice for applications that require robust power and reliability. The JWD-171-12 reed relay is also a cost-effective solution for applications that require continuous current, low power consumption, and high contact reliability.
