JWS5012/R

The AC DC Converters JWS5012/R are a switching power supply that can convert electric power from an unregulated AC power source to a regulated DC power supply. The converters provide high power efficiency, wide input voltage range and a wide operating temperature range. They are ideal for applications such as industrial automation, personal computers, communication and automation equipment, arcade gaming machines and audio amplifiers.

The JWS5012/R AC DC converters incorporate a synchronous rectifier to achieve high power efficiency. It uses high frequency metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) to switch at high frequencies. This reduces size and enables cost-effective, high efficiency conversion.

The JWS5012/R includes both an active-clamp forward converter and a voltage feedback control circuit. The active-clamp forward converter provides high efficiency and low parts count, while the voltage feedback control circuit ensures stable output voltage, regardless of changes in input or load voltage. The AC DC converter is constructed from all the components necessary for operation. The AC input is connected to the primary side of the power factor correction (PFC) circuit, where the voltage is rectified and smoothed. This DC voltage is then filtered and regulated to the output voltage. The MOSFETs across the primary winding rectify and regulate the output voltage. It also ensures the output voltage is stable, even when the input or load voltages fluctuate.

The secondary side of the JWS5012/R is the control and sensing circuitry. A voltage sense feedback circuit monitors the output voltage and regulates it when it moves outside of an acceptable range. The EMI filter noise filter also provides an extra layer of protection for electronic components in the immediate area. The operational temperature range is from 0°C to +50°C.
