It is a common buck converter, used in such applications such as LCD monitor, cable modem and Set Top Box (STB, TV settop box).Application FieldThe KA5M0265RYDTU can be applied to a wide range of AC/DC converter applications, including voltage feed-forward, fixed frequency constant voltage (CV/CC) and cycle-by-cycle current mode control with primary side regulation. It can also be used in a wide range of applications such as LCD monitor, cable modems, DVRs, and Set Top Box (STB, TV settop box).The features it offers include a synchronous rectifier circuit, variable frequency (up to 50kHz), programmable short-circuit protection (SCP), peak current mode & valley current mode control; and a low quiescent current (typ. ~7µA).Working PrincipleTo regulate the output voltage, the feedback voltage is compared to the internal voltage reference and the duty cycle of the main switch is adjusted accordingly. The output voltage regulation is optimized by using a peak current to keep the switch switching during steady-state operation, reducing switch losses.The device has an on-time (Tontime) of 133µs, with a minimum of 100µs and a maximum of 200µs. The total forward current (TFC) can be programmed to 1A, 2A, or 4A by external resistors, and is optimized by using a peak current mode control to reduce losses and keep the switch switching during steady-state operations.The protection circuit monitors the total forward current (TFC) and provides over current protection (OCP). If a short circuit condition occurs, the OCP will be triggered, limiting the current to a safe level and the programmable short circuit protection (SCP) will be enabled, preventing damage to the switch.The device also features programmable over temperature protection (OTP) that limits the maximum core temperature.
