Working Principles

The AC voltage is rectified using a half-bridge rectifier which consists of two MOSFET transistors. This means that the output current is not limited directly, as the current waveform is shifted into the quadrant which contains only DC components at certain positions and angles so that the output current remains within a certain limit.

This is achieved by reducing the harmonic distortion of the input current by adjusting the current waveform parameters.
