The KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board contains an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) base evaluation platform that enables the comparison, testing and performance evaluation of ADC devices. With this evaluation board, designers can quickly compare the performance of ADC devices and adjust settings for optimal performance.

The KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board utilizes Texas Instruments’ (TI) exceptional ADC1885 chip. This optimized chip advantages include: low power operation, high throughput performance, excellent signal to noise ratio (SNR), very low total harmonic distortion (THD), etc.

The KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board also includes numerous other features that enable ADC performance optimization for various designs. For example, the board includes various evaluation sections for: signal input, clock setting, interleave mode, gain control and offset adjustment, signal monitoring, and power management. The evaluation board also allows expandable operation which enables additional circuits to be integrated for feature expansion.

The KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board is the ideal design platform for applications that require high-performance analog to digital conversion, such as video and image processing, data acquisition, telecommunications, vehicle routing navigation, medical and industrial instrumentation, and consumer electronics.

The KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board’s working principle is based on the concept of delta sigma modulators. Delta sigma modulators are class of analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designs that convert an analog signal to digital form using a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) approach. This approach takes advantage of oversampling and sample hold techniques to increase the accuracy of the digital signal created from the analog input signal.

The working principle of the KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board begins with Signal Input, which is the captured analog signal. This signal is then pre-processed using Gain Control and Offset Adjustment to ensure the accuracy of the signal conversion. Following this is the Clock Setting stage, which establishes a reference clock source for operation. It also establishes the conversion rate or Sampling Speed of the ADC. The Clock Setting stage also includes the Interleave Mode, which defines the bit widths for digital output.

Once these parameters are set, signal processing is carried out through the Delta Sigma Modulator using a multi-bit converter. The Delta Sigma Modulator converts the analog signal into a digital signal and outputs it through digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The DACs are followed by a Signal Monitoring stage that allows designers to monitor the various signals of the board during operation. The KDC2710CEVAL Evaluation Board also includes a Power Management stage, which helps in controlling power consumption for efficient operation.
