LAP746 Overview

LAP746 is a bipolar stepper motor driver board module designed for use with double-H bridge bipolar stepper motor input micro-stepping indexes. By driving the motor at a controlled speed, the device can conveniently control the motor speed and accuracy. In addition to the position control of the stepper motor, the module can also detect the motor’s over-current, over-temperature, and wrong sequence. As a result, the stepper motor can achieve high precision positioning control.

Application Field

The LAP746 is suitable for use in various applications including CNC machines, 3D printers, microscopes, X-Y plotters, 3D printers, laser cutting machine, printing machinery, robots, industrial production lines, and other automobiles. The module utilizes stepper motor output current parts and each part has a maximum output of 3A. The voltage of the module ranges from 9V to 36V DC, allowing a variety of stepper motor to be used and achieving an effect of high-speed operation on the motor and accuracy control.

Working Principle

The LAP746 module’s working principle is based on the traditional stepper motor drive theory. The module is composed of a stepper motor driver and a control chip. The control chip utilizes logic voltage signals input to control the stepper motor rotation direction and speed. The control chip permits the micro-stepping operation of the stepper motor, which makes it possible for the module to have various stable signal levels and varying current levels. Depending on the chosen current, the module could have micro-steps from 8 to 32 steps per rotation.

In addition, the module utilizes constant current control, which can prevent the motor from over-heating caused by the large current during operation, and also eliminates the effect of a motor’s armature inductance. Moreover, the module has an integrated pre-set potentiometer and offers two modes of operation: power-down stop and stop immediately. The module also supports time delay control on the selection of power output.

As a result, the LAP746 module offers precision control of the stepper motor along with additional features that make it suitable for various applications. The device helps reduce cogging and helps eliminates the effects of the motor’s armature inductance. It has a robust design that allows the module to operate in demanding industrial environments.
