Working Principle

The moment the button is pushed, the circuit is opened and current begins flowing through. This happens as the switch is internally spring-loaded and the moment the button is pushed, the spring releases and moves two metal contacts, opening the circuit.

In the alternate action/toggle version, the switch can be switched on or off and will remain in the same state until it is pressed again. Depending on the model, the user can adjust the pressure needed to activate the switch. Also, depending on the model, LEDs, buzzers, or other sound devices can be connected to the switch to visually or audibly indicate when the switch has been activated, allowing it to be used as a signalling device as well.
