LB1848MC-AH Integrated Circuits (ICs)

The LB1848MC-AH is a monolithic chip motor driver maximum of 4.5A and 40V, which provides a high efficiency and low on-resistance. This motor driver utilizes a high voltage process, P-channel MOSFETs and N-channel MOSFETs along with control IC’s, giving it the capability to drive a motor with a maximum of 5A of continuous current and a voltage of up to 40V for high efficiency and low power dissipated in the motor. It also provides wide output voltage and low current ripple on the output.

The LB1848MC-AH can be used with various types of motors, such as brushed and brushless DC motors, stepper motors and induction motors, allowing it to drive a wide variety of application requirements. By using a microcontroller or other digital signal processors (DSPs) along with the motor driver, the LB1848MC-AH is suitable for applications where control of the motor is required. The LB1848MC-AH also allows for over-current protection, current sense and speed control, making it suitable for application such as power tools, electric vehicles, home automation and robotics.

The LB1848MC-AH operates through a P-channel and N-channel MOSFETs along with integrated control ICs. The control ICs used are the MC33079 which is an 8-bit H-bridge PWM driver, the MC33079-SUB which is a 5-bit H-bridge PWM driver, and the MC33088 which is a 3-bit H-bridge PWM driver. The P-channel MOSFETs is used to deliver power to the motor while the N-channel MOSFETs are used to control the current and direction.

The LB1848MC-AH provides 3 different operating modes, which can be set through a set of control pins. One of these modes is a current-control mode, where the user can set the current limit and direction of the motor. The other two modes are a PWM-control mode and an over-current protection mode, which will shut down the motor if it detects an over-current situation. The LB1848MC-AH also provides protection from over-voltage and over-current by automatically shutting down the motor when it detects one of these conditions.
