Working Principle

When the handle of this pushbutton switch is in the stop position, the contact between the stop terminals is an open circuit. When the handle is thrown over to the start button, current will flow through the handle and the start terminals, forming a close circuit. Then the power is turned on and the machine is ready to operate. When the handle is thrown back to the stop position, the current is cut off and the machine will stop.

This pushbutton switch is also equipped with safety mechanism which can prevent false operation. When it is in the stop position, the contact between the stop terminals prevents the machine from starting up when power is supplied. The two contacts making up the stop terminals are open, and no power can enter the terminals to form a close circuit and start up the machine.
