This current creates a magnetic field in the region between the anode and the cathode, which causes the voltage across the device to rise.Once the switching voltage has reached the set level, the semiconductor element switches on, allowing electrical current to stream from anode to cathode. This provides the switching needed for the particular application. When the control signal is removed, the switching voltage drops back to its minimum level, and the switching is halted.
