AC/DC (Alternating Current/Direct Current) converters are devices used to change energy from alternating current (AC), to direct current (DC). This conversion is necessary in most electronic systems because the majority of modern electronics require direct current input. While traditional transformer-based AC/DC Converters are effective, in certain applications, such as those with high output power levels, the use of an isolated high-frequency method (typically a switching method) is preferable. Switching converters are able to produce much higher output power levels, and are much more efficient than traditional transformer-based devices when used in these applications.

The LCB35D is a high-efficiency AC/DC converter designed to operate in the harsh industrial environment, and to provide an isolation voltage of 3kVac. This device is also rated for use in applications up to 35A, making it a powerful and reliable solution for industrial applications. The LCB35D utilizes a high-frequency, switching topology to provide both high efficiency and excellent output power ratings.

The LCB35D utilizes an LLC resonant tank circuit to convert AC input power into a DC output, while also providing isolation between the input and output. A capacitor is placed between the input and output of the resonant circuit to store energy and to prevent any energy backflow. Additionally, a transformer is used to couple the input and output electrodes in order to provide isolation.

The converter also utilizes several FETs (Field Effect Transistors) to switch power to the output stage. These FETs are driven by an oscillator, which is set to the desired frequency. This oscillator is used to control the frequency and duty cycle of the FETs, and thus, the output power. The frequency is adjustable from 25kHz up to 100kHz, and the duty cycle can be set from 0% to 100%.
