Working Principle of LCD0821 Display Module

LCD0821 display module works on liquid crystal displays (LCD) technology. It is constructed from liquid crystals and polarizing material. This liquid crystal material has both optical and electrical properties which allows it to be used in various displays. LCDs block or allow light to pass through a range of dark and light shades, which are controlled by voltage and displayed as an array of different characters, images and numbers.

An LCD0821 display module consists of two glass plates, between which a thin layer of liquid crystal is held by spacers. A thin film of transparent electrodes are placed over each glass plate. The two glass plates are then sealed together tightly with a sealant. The electrodes on each glass plate form a grid of vertical and horizontal rows. When a voltage is applied to selected electrodes, an electrostatic field is created, which affects the orientation of the liquid crystal molecules in that particular area.

The liquid crystal molecules twist, and either block light or allow light to pass when a voltage is applied across the electrodes.
