AC DC Converters are electronic devices designed to convert alternating current (AC) resulting from the power grid into direct current (DC). The AC DC Converters have many uses as it can be used for many purposes such as charging batteries or blocking direct current, voltage stabilization and/or power conversion. The LDA75F-9-SNY is one of the AC DC converters used in many applications. The LDA75F-9-SNY is an active power factor correction (PFC) converter equipped with a quasi-resonant flyback LLC tank. It is capable of providing a high efficiency of up to 96.5%, low EMI, high power density, and very good voltage accuracy. The flyback LLC topology eliminates the bulky transformers used in other topologies such as buck and forward. It also allows for a big reduction in component count which results in a cost-effective and high-performance solution. Thus, the LDA75F-9-SNY is suitable for applications such as enterprise and telecom power supplies, AC/DC converters for LED lighting, and DC/DC converters for industrial and automotive applications. The LDA75F-9-SNY operates in a quasi-resonance cycle which combines the advantages of continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). In the CCM mode, each cycle of input voltage causes the same amount of energy to be transferred to the output. In the DCM mode, less energy is transferred to the output as the current in the inductor is discontinuous. This combination of CCM and DCM results in high efficiency across the whole load range. The power stage of the LDA75F-9-SNY is composed of a high-side MOSFET, a low-side MOSFET, and double-contained PFC diode connected in a half-bridge configuration. The MOSFETs are controlled by two separate gate drivers with independent, local switching frequencies to keep the drain voltages from interfering with each other. The LLC resonant tank boosts the power stage efficiency and provides a nearly constant-frequency operation. Additionally, the PFC diode diodes prevent any AC ripple from propagating through the power stage or the output. The controller chip of the LDA75F-9-SNY implements a quasi-resonant control algorithm, whose goal is to keep the device operating in the most efficient region over a wide input and output voltage range, while ensuring stable operation and good dynamic performance. It also contains a slew rate controller to limit switching spikes on both the main MOSFETs, and an adaptive output voltage control to ensure a constant output voltage even under varying load conditions. The LDA75F-9-SNY is a highly efficient and cost-effective AC DC converter suitable for a wide variety of applications. It is designed with an innovative quasi-resonant LLC tank topology and implements an advanced control algorithm to provide high efficiency across a wide load range.
