Common mode chokes are widely used in power and signal line filtering, as well as delay line applications and telephone line protection. The LF2020NP-222 Common Mode Choke is a good example of a device used in such applications. It is an axial style, high inductance, wide bandwidth bias chock manufactured by EMCO. The LF2020NP-222 is designed to provide excellent EMI filtering, attenuation of high frequency signals, and excellent delay line characteristics.

The working principle of the LF2020NP-222 Common Mode Choke is based on the fact that the magnetic field of an inductor is proportional to the amount of current flowing through it. When a current flows through the choke, a magnetic field is created. This magnetic field is what "chokes" the current, resulting in a lower overall impedance with respect to higher frequency signals or pulses. As a result, higher frequency signals and pulses are blocked, while lower frequency signals pass through the choke unimpeded.
