Optoisolators are electrical devices that use optical isolation to protect the circuit used to control the device and the circuit which is being controlled. The LIA130STR consists of an 6-pin dual-in-line package containing a light transmitting diode, an optically insulated photodiode, a voltage clamping circuit and a short-circuit protection circuit. The light emitting diode is used to transmit a photocurrent through the optically isolated gap to the other side of the gap and then on to the photodiode. The photodiode then converts the input signal into a voltage , which is then amplified and passes internally to the output leads.
The LIA130STR features a maximum allowable maximum power rating of 4.0 W @ 32 V, a maximum permissible photo-dynamic power of 60 mW, and a maximum direct input current of 10 mA. The device also features a total isolation resistance of 100Mohm and dielectric strength of 100 V/m for 10 ms. Its insulation resistance is greater than 100Mohm, and its insulation withstand voltage is 1000VAC.
